Dynamic load test

Conducting a dynamic test load is also intended to determine the mechanical load capacity of the soil with the corresponding load-subsidence behaviour of a foundation pile.

The principle of this measuring method is virtually identical tothe execution of a PDA-measurement, with the distinction that the dynamic load test is performed on a pile that is in equilibrium wrong with the soil, in which water spans aredissipated. A so called 'set-up' period is being taking in consideration.

In order to determine the loading capacity a pile-soil model is being developed and an artificial test signal is constructed with a simulation program (DLTWave) based on the soil investigation and pile characteristics. The pile-soil model is than interactively adjusted until an acceptable 'fit' with a actual recorded measuring signal exists (signal matching). The load capacity, which is determined in this manner, can than be derived.

Dynamic test loads can be executed by means of a 'dead' drop-weight, which is hoisted up by a telescopic mast crane and than dropped (by means of a sliding bar) back onto the pile head. Although this offers advantages in therms of mobilization over the use of a ram block, it should be remembered that the implementation of a seperate test is much more laborious and yields less qualitative measurement signals, with the implicit result in a less reliable prediction of the load bearing capacity.

APTS can supply the necessary materials and equipment for the dynamic load test and can carry out the implementation and elaboration of the guidance of execution of the test.
